WHAT IS BASALT?
Basalt is a type of volcanic rock. It comes in shades of black, grey, dark green and dark brown. It is usually black and grey. It was formed by the cooling of the magma flow. It is a very hard natural stone and has been used in building construction for centuries. Basalt stone, which is still very popular today, is frequently preferred in pavement projects, bridge construction, railway projects and interior and exterior spaces of buildings. In Turkey, Basalt is produced mainly in the cities of Diyarbakır, Sanlıurfa, Kayseri, Corlu and Afyon Karahisar. Basalt stone has been and continues to be involved in many important projects of Turkish architecture for centuries.
